問題が解決しました。何らかの理由で、以前にインストールされたメタパッケージのバージョンがまだインストールされていますnvidia-driver-440。このバグパックは3台のノートブックで再現されましたが、同じままでNvidiaのアップデートをブロックします。

OS全体を更新した後、再起動して次のことを実行しました。

apt-get purge nvidia-driver-440

結果：

  nvidia-driver-440*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 1 not upgraded.

今、上記のテスト実行は大丈夫だと思います。ルートとしてインストール：

apt-get --install-recommends install nvidia-driver-455

すべてがうまくいったので、システムは問題なく起動します。
